(1 Year fixed-term role based at Enkululekweni Wellness Centre in Khayelitsha)
Ikamva Labantu is a non-profit organisation that works throughout Cape Town’s township communities towards a more just society where human rights can be fully actualised. We have a holistic and community-led approach to the sustainable development of impoverished communities, focusing on early childhood development, the well-being of older persons and afterschool initiatives for children. We have been working with at-risk communities for 60 years by providing resources, training, and support.
The purpose of this role is to provide a high standard of physiotherapy services to older person’s. To facilitate the treatment and therapy of older persons who suffer from physical challenges. Help them regain their strength and function through exercise programmes and manual therapies such as joint manipulation and manual therapies. Use clinical reasoning skills to provide specialist support and training to older persons department field staff, whilst maintaining own caseload of older persons.
Key Performance Areas:
- Physiotherapist training through theory and practice.
- Programme management and implementation.
- Adherence to legal requirements.
- Relationship Management and Networking.
- Administration and Reporting.
Minimum Requirements & Competencies:
- Registered Physiotherapist (Provision of proof of registration with HPCSA).
- Community development.
- Minimum of two years of working in the development sector/community/community health centres.
- Proven relevant experience in field supervision.
- Demonstrated skills and competencies:
- Working independently and meeting deadlines.
- The ability to work within complex systems and networks.
- Demonstrating the organisation’s values: commitment, compassion, humility, accountability, integrity and respect.
- Good verbal and written English and isiXhosa ability; preferably speaking isiXhosa as First language.
- A valid code 8 driver’s licence.
- Own vehicle will be advantageous but visibility in the townships is compulsory
- The ability to:
- work within the townships.
- work flexible hours when required.
