Helen speaks at TEDxEuston
Our Founder and Honourary President Helen Lieberman was invited to speak at TEDxEuston 2012. In her heartfelt talk she spoke about Ikamva Labantu’s humble beginnings in the 1960’s, the work of Ikamva Labantu today, and she shared stories and insights into how – what started off as a small and localised initiative – has grown over the years into a vast and impactful organisation with connections throughout the world.
TEDxEuston is a TED-like event locally organised in the same spirit of “ideas worth spreading”, devoted to leveraging the powers of ideas to change the world. The event aims to reflect ideas and inspired thinking and covers a range of topics, from Technology and Entertainment to Science, Business and Global Issues. Previous TED speakers include politicians, scientists, authors, business leaders and individuals with inspiring stories of hope and achievement. TEDxEuston is licensed by TED, and like all TED events, is run as a not-for-profit event.
Dear Tedx and Helen Lieberman,I have just watched Helen’s talk on the mamas in South Africa, found the Ikamva Labantu trust after having bought a bracelet from the Poetry store in Somerset West sold to support the work of the Trust. What an eye opener-I am a reflexologist based in the Uk,and am sending an email to Helen and her team to see how I can help, one does not realise that people who are as courageous and resilient like that,is called upon to wake the rest of us from slumber,so here I come South Africa, to learn from the Trust, and see if I may help in some small way, through reflexology,as I know how life changing the therapy can be.
Hopefully the Trust will have me!
Love and blessings to them and Tedx!
